DON'T STOP MOVIN'

It's fair to say that there are a LOT of old fashioned myths regarding exercising while pregnant (some going as far as to say that you shouldn't), which simply aren't true! Thankfully, it's now widely understood (not to mention backed by evidence) that exercising while pregnant is in fact extremely beneficial.

If you love a good workout, there's absolutely no reason to stop (unless a medically diagnosed complication, obvs). Even if you're relatively new to exercise, regular moderate activity during pregnancy is good for you. Of course, as pregnancy progresses there are some modifications to be made, and some areas to pay more attention to, but on the whole, a large majority of exercises (performed correctly), are perfectly safe to continue. Now I'm definitely not saying that nothing is off limits, let's be sensible, pregnancy probably isn't the time to join a contact sports team or hit the slopes, but you most certainly don't need to say farewell to any resistance training or ditch the cardio!

I'm always banging on about how important it is to stay active during pregnancy, and it's something that I'll always advocate for a number of reasons, namely the huge mental and physical benefits for mama to be...however, all of that being said, it's also really important to REST when you need to. Do what's right for you, listen to your body, if it's telling you that you need to take it easy, then do just that! Only you know how you feel, and every pregnancy is different. If you're feeling pumped with energy to work out, but not quite sure how to train around you every changing body, then get in touch :).
